The Philadelphia Flyers won against the New Jersey Devils in the first game of the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs this afternoon. This action-packed game went into OT, but finally came out in the Flyers' favor, with a game one win.

Things were looking pretty bleak at the beginning of the game. 10 minutes into the first period the Devils had seven times as many shots on goal as the Flyers. With all these shots on goal, the Devils got a goal in early at 03:16 into the first period.

Who knows what the Flyers coach, Peter Laviolette, said to his players in the locker room, but whatever it was, it got the team pumped for the second period. They came out and looked like a playoff team. Danny Briere and James Van Riemsdyk scored within a minute of each other, 8 minutes into the second period.

These two teams were pretty evenly matched the rest of the game. Things were tied up 2-2 going into the third period, and then the game had to go into OT, because things were all tied up 3-3 at the end of regulation.

And the Flyers scored a goal in OT and fans went wild! …Except it was not really a goal. After further review the officials deemed that a Flyers player had purposely kicked the puck in the goal, which meant no goal. So OT went on, until 04:36 when Danny Briere got a puck right through the legs of Martin Brodeur. It was a picture perfect ending for the Flyers, almost as good as these autographed Philadelphia Flyers photos.

Be sure to watch the Flyers take on the Devils in game 2 of the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, this Tuesday, May 1st. After this past OT win, the Flyers will be confident going into the next game, so look out for a good second game, Flyers fans.
